Market Operative

We are currently recruiting for Market Operatives to join our stall erection team in Stratford-upon-Avon Town Centre.


The role is manually intensive and involves the erection and dismantling of market pop-up stalls, setting up lighting across the market area and overall ensuring that the market area is presentable in readiness for our traders to sell their products.


Due to the nature of the role, the hours of work are slightly unsociable and would mainly be

Friday: 4.00am - 9.00am

Saturday: 5.00pm-9.00pm

Sunday: 4.00am-9am and 5.00pm – 9.00pm


Candidates applying should therefore be happy working unsociable hours and be comfortable undertaking a manual based role, involving lifting equipment.


The rate of pay for this position is in accordance with National Minimum Wage.

Working pattern

5 days per week to work flexibly over 7 days. Regular weekend working is required.


Overview of Role

The Area Manager post is a newly created role which has been developed to support the Organisation with our growth and business development strategy.


We are therefore recruiting for a motivated Area Manager to oversee our current 8 sites throughout England. As we grow, the number of sites may increase. Overseeing our sites involve operational planning and management, liaising with local authority partners, people and financial management as well as a focus on business development and supporting the generation of new income.


We are looking for a candidate with strong leadership and interpersonal skills, who has a proven track record of driving organisational performance. The successful candidate will be ready and able to build long-term relationships with all market staff and the subsequent stakeholders.


Key duties and responsibilities


Operational Management

  • Undertake regular visits on each of the Markets and work with the Market Managers to ensure operations are running effectively
  • Work with the HR & Compliance Manager to ensure that all areas of compliance are being met
  • Deal with any operational issues when undertaking regular visits
  • Regularly liaise with traders and be the port of call to deal with immediate trader issues
  • Be the key contact with our local authority partners and develop and maintain positive relationships with these stakeholders
  • Attend regular meetings with the local authorities to discuss operational, contract and new event matters
  • Produce regular reports to the Senior Management Team (SMT) on operations


People Management

  • Line Management responsibility for the Market Managers
  • Able to build effective relationships with staff and confident in addressing any people management issues which arise (with the support of Human Resources)
  • Ability to identify training needs in team members and positively work with those individuals for their personal development


Business Development

  • Support the SMT with the growth and business development strategy.
  • Attend meetings with potential partners to sell and promote LSD Promotions services
  • Pro-actively identify new business areas and undertake due diligence in new locations for expansion planning


Qualifications and experience required

It is essential that the successful candidate has experience of working within the retail/market sector

Experience within a customer facing role and confident in developing relationships with individuals

Business Development/sales experience is desirable.


Experience of managing people is desirable however training will be provided.


A full UK driving licence is essential.


Comfortable with being remotely based, spending the majority of the time working outside at markets and travelling across the UK.
